Willpower is an important resource in this game. Some magic powers require a point of Willpower to be spent to activate, but more importantly spending a point when attempting a roll gives you a significant bonus, +2 dice for rolls involving a Resistance Attribute (Resolve, Stamina, Composure) and +3 dice for any other rolls. Though this can only be done once per each specific action, this can be the difference between failure and success or success and exceptional success. So this raises an important question; How do I regain Willpower?
There are two ways to do so. First is with Rest. For each full and restful night of sleep you get you can regain one spent Willpower point.
The second is through your Needle and Thread. Your Needle and Thread represent the identities you take to give yourself meaning and purpose in your daily lives. Each provide two ways to regain Willpower; one relatively easy method that can be done multiple times in a scene and restores one point of Willpower. The other, which restores all of your Willpower, can only be done once a chapter. These always involve great risk or momentous events for the character, like breaking points, risk of recapture, or general high drama.
Your Needle is the role you have been given in the structure of society at large.
Your Thread is your hidden, vulnerable self, the person you are in the dark
